SXSW has been around the same time of the year since 1987, and grown to be nearly one of the largest festivals yet, so long as that it last's a week. All industries broken up to begin at different times, and ends running all together, to finish out the week with a bang. Blessing the world with names like Billy Ray Cyrus back in 1988, the secret gets out quick about who you are and or what your doing. Why??? Well I think we all know for the most obvious of reasons and that's "WORD OF MOUTH". I mean its what it is, end of story. You can't tell me that ain't the truth, and has been a huge part of business marketing strategies that is free for decades.
I also watch so may review video's on youtube about nearly everything, and aye' let me just say if you don't do that then you're for sure missing out on some amazing parts of life. To be honest with you really quick, and I promise it will only take a second. Okay, to sum it up I'll just say it like this "People Talk". You got Ellen who I love, an then theres Wendy Williams, all the radio personalities have segments, so its out there, all of it, and there's nothing we can do about that. Then you have me, along with maybe oh say another few million people who embrace it, and all its beauty. We are with it, in fame and in tragedy. So, South by Southwest is the foundation for the up and comers like Eastside Lou, and Gizzle, and back then Billy Ray Cyrus (1988), Doug E Fresh and Cypress Hill in 2000. Their names have only gotten bigger!! We caught up with super cool and super cute start up companies at some of the exhibits we visited and got some cute photos, and placed then in the tags for you to click and connect with them. Sadly I can't give you the scoop on every segment of the event, I'd be near writing a short novel, so this is just a taste of my experience.
I Stopped by the Shea Moisture pop-up booth to check out their scene, and I got a few cool pictures of the crew and booth. What's exciting is seeing how these businesses new and established are coming back into our communities, and getting back to the real approach of getting to know us, and trying to build a relationship. We also want to shout out a few other exhibits we paid a visit to Riddle Scented Oil. They are an upscale naturally scented oils company. They smelled so good, and lasted a long time. One of my favorite scents was Muse. Also, we said hello to Pirates Press Records who presses vinyl and other sorts of cool music promotional merchandise. After that we stopped to see what Lurk&Destroy had to say, and they carry all kinds of different unique art, that can be used for things like gig posters, album art covers, and skateboard art. Lastly, we visited Next Level Apparel a clothing line carrying trendy clothes and accessories.
Now, Fashionable another booth there that really stood out, not because of their display, but because of their amazing story. Fashionable's products are all handmade by proud women who have over come harmful a tough situations, so be sure to check them out to read more about their story, and to support. After, I found out, I was overcome by emotion to know thats what their company was about, below I thought it fitting to share their quote:
"FASHIONABLE provides sustainable jobs for women coming out of difficult situations. These situations range from addiction, to homelessness, to prostitution. All of our leather, woven, and jewelry products are handmade by these women who are learning to provide for themselves and their families!"
This is one of the many benefits of attending the events at SXSW, and best of all taking part in it. You get to find out things about some the people both individually and collectively through their business. I will say that one of the things I loved about each of these booths was the smile I was greeted with as I walked up. With all the negativity already spewed in society the reason I passed by a lot of booth's was that I didn't feel like my money was worth their smile. So I gave my time to those booths that did really display friendly universal courteous. For networking SXSW is the event one would definitely want to attend, and again for businesses to be apart of. The conferences with keynote speakers who share their experience of their industry, that is vital to growth and development. They offer just a ton of information, that we can learn from. Each area involved in the event did an awesome job at presenting, and representing their specific company. Music turned up the heat with all the HOT showcases that preformed. There were also a ton of surprise visits from artists like the legendary E40, and the astounding BJ The Chicago Kid who put on yet another fantastic show. There was no room to complain about anything, but parking. I really enjoyed myself.
